I bought this book on Friday and since I wanted to read it I got the Kindle book as well. I finished it on Saturday night! I couldn't put it down. It has been almost ten years since I read a work of fiction and Last Tears as been a completely refreshing foray back. This novel has such interesting twists and turn and such a rich mythology I can't wait to read the last book. The character of Day is an amazingly complex and genuine character strong and venerable in an unexpected way. This is an instant classic and anyone who does not dedicate the few hours to immerse themselves in it is depriving themselves of a new favorite. You must read this book now!
This book is simply unlike anything I have read. It's amazing!!! I cant wait to get the 2nd and 3rd books!
The characters are great. The imagery is vibrant and well done. The story compels one to keep reading. The mythology is so enjoyable. Highly recommended.
If sequels arrive, I will buy them and read them, so I hope the author is encouraged by that. But I am guessing the author is very young and/or inexperienced because of some of the problems with the book. Even though we are in the year 3000 plus, gender roles have hardly changed, with most girls still absorbed by their looks and gossip as a favorite pastime, while boys wield weapons and feign stereotypic manliness, this DESPITE the seemingly amazing powers most have to affect nature at its core. The female protagonist is whiny and endlessly self-doubting, another tiresome constant with female leads. And the "teens" all still use words like "dude" and "cool," very unlikely 1000 years from now, especially given what we know about language evolution. So I hope the author gets a little more imaginative in her portrayal of the people; they don't measure up to her very interesting portrayal of the world they inhabit. If she can match both, she would be producing something much more 5-star.
This book was really easy to get into and was exciting until the end. I love the mixture of fantasy and mythology/legend. Can't wait for the next one!
I'm sooooooo sad this book is ending and I can't wait for December 1st to roll around to get the next book in the series. From the beginning I was taken into this amazing world through the awesome imagination and descriptive writing she obviously has a knack for. Great job!!!!
