Fantastic read. I so relate to this book. My husband and I married at 17/20 years old respectively and not because "we had to" , but because we were in love. So I definitely get how head over heels in love feels! We just celebrated our 31st anniversary! (Still head over heels for that guy!) This book shows that even great marriages need daily work, even when there is nothing "wrong" with it. Sort of like a maintenance plan. I would recommend this book to any married couple- newlyweds and soon to be wed couples included. Start strong and stay strong is what I get from this book- always putting God first! He can and does bless this union of mine and I love how Mrs. Lowe puts it out there for readers to see! Keep the books coming!!!!
WHAT A GREAT BOOK! The journey of marriage told by Mia and Bode was just wonderful. This story was so open and honest, I loved it. This book spoke to me, it made me think, feel, laugh, cry and most of all it opened my eyes. I have always considered myself happily married and I really am, but this book opened my eyes to another level of thinking about our marriage. ( I put "my" and changed it to OUR) of 27 years. Our love at first sight, the infertility, the happy parts and the sad parts. Now my favorite part is the to have and to hold. This is a great book for anyone to read, no matter if you are just married, going to be married or been married for a long time.thank you so much for this book.
Too many times romance novels get wrapped up in the boy getting the girl and then they end. This is the story of real love and the happily ever after that isn't necessarily happy or lasting ever after. Thank you, thank you, Mrs. Lowe for a novel that carries us through the trials, truth, and often harsh reality of the ups and downs of marriage, and thank you for the sweet reminder that marriage is a bond like no other that can be full of friendship, fun, and romance. May we all seek to have and to hold like Bode & Mia.
Wow! This is a must read for anyone who has been married for a long while. The story of Mia and Bode's marriage falling apart after 20 plus years brought about many emotions for me as it did for them in the storyline. The author has shown us the stages of marriage. The unbelievable happiness in the beginning, the joy of babies, the intimacy shared. But along with all the wonderfulness of it comes everyday routines, chores, jobs and each having their own issues. For Mia, she is a person in control of herself and family but she is lonely and angry at Bode for not showing he cares anymore or at least that is what she thinks because of the way he is acting.. For Bode, his dreams are not coming true. He dislikes his job and has let depression take over and it is affecting his life. He doesn't feel like Mia cares anymore and he feels he has lost her. It was so easy for me to feel for both Mia and Bode and the emotions they are going through as the story unfolds. The hard part comes when they work to get love and their marriage back on track. This story just hits so many emotional buttons about marriage and relationships. The author has nailed it and once again I take a lot from one of her books. I so love how faith plays such a pivotal roll throughout the story. The author has also given us some great secondary characters to love especially the neighbor Maury. Thank you T.I. Lowe for yet another thought provoking book that is also entertaining to read.
Wow this was quite a story on a marriage about to go wrong and what it took to save it. My favorite part would have to be when the couple get a copy of the marriage vows from their pastor and check off each vow as they do them. To Have and to Hold, thru sickness and health, etc. the Christmas scene was very emotional and well told by the author. The intimate scenes between husband and wife - perfect. I'm glad I read this and look forward to the next one.

It will make you contemplate the masks we wear that we try to use to cover up the flaws in our lives. How putting up that front makes for lonely company when we've set ourselves up so that we have no one to share our struggles with because we've made ourselves seem perfect. How so many times our lives are not what they seem. And it’s even so much more than that.Until I Do is the story of a couple forced to examine the vows they spoke to each other and what they really mean and to decide if they're going to keep those vows. Ms. Lowe does an incredible job of taking us into a marriage, one that’s not what it seems, and quite possibly even showing us ourselves in the process. The ugliness that sometimes spews out of us onto those closest to us when we let bitterness fester. The hurt and damage we have the power to cause each other. The blame we place instead of looking at our own role in things going badly. Ignoring our own faults while throwing our loved one’s faults in his/her face. How wrapped up in our own selves we so often are. So wrapped up in our own insecurities, our own frustrations that we don’t see the other person, their hurts, their fears, and their insecurities. How we don't take the time to listen, to really hear each other. How we so easily drop the ball in showing each other that we value each other, that we believe that we’re worth it. How we become so caught up in the busyness of life, the tediousness that we don’t make time to LIVE that life abundantly and make it count. Thankfully, Ms. Lowe goes beyond all of that to offer the hope that is so desperately needed, hope for grace, hope for change, hope for redemption.I believe every marriage has it’s troubles and that this book will resonate with so many. The struggles of the the characters will resonate, but I believe so will the hope that they find. No marriage is exempt from problems, and it takes intentional commitment to see a marriage through it all. This book will take you on an deep, real journey to seeing what that looks like.
