Required material for class.
This author does not have a way with words. Explanations are wordy, circuitous, and overall unclear.
It is what it is. This was required for a college course and therefore met that requirement. What more can you say?
This was a required text for my intro to GIS class. The book is very informative but almost impossible to follow. The wording is very confusing. Each sentence is very cryptic even though the subject matter is relatively easy. Harvey uses very nondescript words when describing the differences between two terms.
My review is going to be colored by my disdain for this class. Are maps necessary? Yes. This book will help you understand them much better. Do I like the work? No. The text is informative, and required for my class. The style in which it is written is guaranteed to cure insomnia.
